Here is a story about a elderly man being beaten by a few teenages. It also mentions a few more stories about others being beaten and who have died from homophobic attacks. All of which happened in the UK. It's funny, cause I was under the impression that the UK was sorta a welcoming place for LGBT but after reading this I'm starting to think otherwise.. www.pinknews.co.uk/2009/11/04/gay-man-attacked-in-ilford-london/

Yeah, but it happened in London. All sorts of shit goes down in London. >>
And I suppose this, and the Jamaica thing, go to show society hasn't evolved as much as we'd expected. The human race as a whole is still cagey and close-minded.
At least this man survived. It's sickening to see the amount of abuse still going on, though. =/

I always thought Europe (western Europe at least) was pretty good about gay rights. But I met a girl from France who said something along the lines of "it's less so than it appears" she told me one of her good friends was beaten while walking home because he had a pride flag on his bag.
Personally, the worst I've gotten are hard stares, and being called "dyke" when holding hands with a girl.

Ya know, I see and hear about this stuff but I never really met anyone whos had it really bad when it comes to people not being cool with there sexuality. I guess the world really isn't all bad in some areas.

It seems to happen anywhere, no matter how open the overall community is. I have a friend in California who says that even though the state is pretty open, there are still hate crimes that happen every now and then.
