Hi there,
My name is Matt. I am a gay man and I live and work in London.
I am studying an MA in Global Society and Media Communication with Staffordshire University. For my final dissertation I am researching how the internet has allowed LGBTI people to come together online. I am interested in examining how this allows LGBTI people to challenge the global dominance of heterosexual society.
In particular I am examining:
• Erasure: how LGBTI communities are erased from history and society;
• The violent policing of heterosexual ‘normativity’;
• Identity: how do queer people create and affirm identities in a heterosexual world?
• The internet: how does the internet support LGBTI people to come together and share experiences, tell and share stories, present and affirm identities and support each other on a global scale. How does this challenge heterosexual dominance of society?
If you would be happy to discuss this topic with me online please get in touch - I would be really glad to hear from you on this forum, or via Facebook: Matt Ellis-Bray or by e-mail to:

As you may know, LGBTI issues are under-researched and underrepresented in academia. This is one of the reasons why I have chosen this topic.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear from you.
Matt

Please note that I will not include in my work any details which might be traced back to any one individual. Participation is voluntary and online participants may withdraw from the research at any time. If you have any questions about my research please feel free to ask.
